Abstract
The publication of the Proceedings of the international conference Il pensiero letterario come fondamento di una testa ben fatta intends to give wide dissemination to the reflections of scholars who all – starting from different disciplinary approaches – question the importance of the literary text as a structuring factor of a complex and rich way to look at the world, to better understand oneself and the others, to conceive the network of relations – in time and space – which forms our – both physical and mental – living environment, to elaborate new perspectives of viewing or more intimate and direct modes of access to reality and language, just as poetry does.
In line with the concept of a ‘well-made head’, from Montaigne to Edgar Morin, literature appears to be for us a fundamental mode of connection and comprehension of the multiple aspects which make our humanity, since we are, first of all, ‘beings of word and texts’. The Sciences of education undoubtedly benefit from this awareness, even – or especially – in the present world.
