Abstract
Il volume si propone di ricostruire in modo inedito la storia del Museo della Scuola e dell’Educazione “Mauro Laeng” (MuSEd) e del suo patrimonio storico-educativo a partire dall’innovativa prospettiva teorica e storiografica della Public History of Education, che si occupa dei rapporti tra mondo accademico e mondo extra accademico nelle pratiche di ricostruzione e di trasmissione della storia dell’educazione. Se fino al primo decennio del Duemila le attività dell’università e dei suoi musei erano centrate soprattutto sulla missione di ricerca e sulla missione didattica, oggi la società impone nuove sfide al mondo accademico, tra le quali un posto cruciale è ricoperto dalla “valorizzazione delle conoscenze” (già Terza Missione), rivolta al rapporto tra l’università e la società civile. Questo ampliamento di obbiettivi spinge la stessa storiografia a rinnovarsi e a rileggere il passato focalizzando l’attenzione non più esclusivamente sull’interlocuzione accademica, ma sui rapporti tra l’università e il pubblico dei non specialisti. I contributi raccolti nel volume ricostruiscono, a partire dai fondi più importanti del MuSEd, alcune delle pratiche più interessanti di Public History of Education ante-litteram del panorama storico-educativo italiano e riflettono criticamente sulle prospettive attuali, volte a valorizzare tali patrimoni in rapporto alle esigenze e ai problemi di una società civile spesso dimentica della sua memoria, al fine di produrre un circolo virtuoso tra università, musei, scuole e società.
This volume takes an unprecedented approach to reconstructing the history of the Mauro Laeng Museum of School and Education (MuSEd) and its historical and educational heritage. It adopts the innovative theoretical and historiographical perspective of Public History of Education, which examines the relationship between academia and non-academia in the processes of reconstructing and transmitting the history of education. While the activities of universities and their museums were mainly focused on research and teaching until the first decade of the 2000s, society today poses new challenges to academia, one of which is the 'enhancement of knowledge' (formerly known as the Third Mission), which aims to foster relationships between universities and civil society. This broadening of objectives is prompting historiography itself to evolve and reinterpret the past, shifting the focus from academic discourse to the relationship between the university and non-specialist audiences. The contributions collected in this volume draw on the most important collections of the MuSEd to reconstruct some of the most interesting ante litteram Public History of Education practices in the Italian historical-educational landscape. The contributions also offer critical reflections on current perspectives aimed at enhancing this heritage in relation to the needs and problems of a society that often lacks memory, with the aim of creating a virtuous circle between universities, museums, schools, and society.
