Il terzo convegno, di cui questo volume pubblica una sintesi degli oltre cinquanta contributi (relazioni e poster), dal titolo Le Mura Aureliane nella storia di Roma 3. Dal XVI secolo all’età contemporanea, è coordinato da Sapienza e finanziato nell’ambito del PRIN 2022, dedicato a I sistemi difensivi della città di Roma al passato e al presente. Processi di patrimonializzazione delle Mura Aureliane e dei Forti militari (secoli XIX-XXI).">
Nel corso dell’ultimo decennio, le tre Università di Roma – Sapienza, Tor Vergata e Roma Tre – e la Sovrintendenza Capitolina hanno promosso momenti di incontro per la condivisione e l’organizzazione di attività di ricerca scientifica sulle Mura Aureliane, eccezionale testimonianza monumentale di quasi diciotto secoli di storia. Frutto di questa collaborazione interdisciplinare sono stati due convegni: Le Mura Aureliane nella storia di Roma. 1. Da Aureliano a Onorio (Roma Tre, 2015); Le Mura Aureliane nella storia di Roma. 2. Da Onorio a Niccolò V (Tor Vergata, 2017).

The third conference, summarized in this volume through over fifty contributions (papers and posters), is entitled Le Mura Aureliane nella storia di Roma 3. Dal XVI secolo all’età contemporanea (The Aurelian Walls in the History of Rome 3. From the 16th Century to the Contemporary Age). This conference is coordinated by Sapienza and funded under PRIN 2022, dedicated to Rome’s defensive systems between past and present. The heritage-recognition process of the Aurelian Walls and of the military Forts (19th-21st centuries).">
Over the last decade, Rome’s three universities – Sapienza, Tor Vergata, and Roma Tre – and the Sovrintendenza Capitolina have promoted opportunities for sharing and organising scientific research activities on the Aurelian Walls, an exceptional monumental testimony to almost eighteen centuries of history. This interdisciplinary collaboration has resulted in two conferences: The Aurelian Walls in the History of Rome. 1. From Aurelian to Honorius (Roma Tre, 2015); The Aurelian Walls in the History of Rome. 2. From Honorius to Nicholas V (Tor Vergata, 2017).
