Abstract

The symposium was conceived as a multi-level dialogue. On the one hand, it engaged representatives of the national institutions responsible for governing and monitoring the 3D digitization of cultural heritage in Italy. On the other, it brought together Italian and international research centers and universities actively involved in the creation, management, and sharing of 3D data through web-based platforms. A further session was devoted to semantic technologies and Linked Open Data (LOD), together with an in-depth discussion of the complex legal framework and challenges involved in the creation, management, and use of 3D models.
The volume is organized into three sections that mirror this thematic structure. It concludes with a presentation of the D-TECH open-source web platform, developed within the framework of the project to support the study, conservation, and enhancement of Digital Twins of cultural heritage assets.">
