Abstract
The volume includes 35 articles written in honour of Professor Guido Alpa in the occasion of his retirement from the University “La Sapienza” of Rome. The contributions move from a topic – among the many – that Guido Alpa has analyzed in his multi-faceted writings: history of law, philosophy of law, postmodern theories, interpretation of the law and of legal acts, and, in general, the intersection between private law and other disciplines. A considerable number of articles are devoted to contract law, consumer protection, extracontractual liability, and regulation of markets which are among the main areas of research of Guido Alpa. Further several articles are devoted to some of Alpa’s ground-breaking writings: personal identity, human dignity and end-of-life self-determination.
